Teresa Merchán, Ph.D., is a bilingual (Spanish/English) Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) at Healing Waves Therapy & Counseling PLLC with over a decade of experience supporting immigrants in the U.S., particularly members of the Latino community. Originally from Ecuador, Teresa brings a warm, collaborative, and culturally responsive approach to therapy that honors each client’s identity, values, and lived experiences.
Teresa specializes in working with women navigating depression, anxiety, intimate partner violence, and complex trauma. Her work is rooted in strength-based, trauma-informed care and integrates culturally specific practices with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and person-centered therapy. Teresa also values exploring the social and systemic factors that impact mental health, helping clients feel empowered, supported, and connected to their inner resilience.
